The PAWS Your Stress program is offered by a caring team of students, researchers, professionals, and most important, volunteer therapy dogs and handlers!
The program was founded in 2015 by the Office of the Centennial Enhancement Chair in One Health and Wellness at the University of Saskatchewan. It is offered today in partnership with Peer Health and the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program.
Meet the PAWSYourStress therapy dogs in this video who are working hard to bring you online visits.
To meet the needs of our changing world, the USask PAWS Your Stress Therapy Dog Program is looking for feedback from the USask Community about how we can offer our program on-line.
Please consider taking our 5-minute on-line survey to share your thoughts https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/PAWSTherapyDogs
At the end of the survey, you will have a chance to enter a draw for a custom printed pillow from @thepillowshoppe featuring your own pet or your favourite PAWS Your Stress Therapy Dog!
In March 2020, the University of Saskatchewan implemented a working remotely policy because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Our therapy dog program responded within a few short weeks by moving online.
Our online program goals are to:
(1) virtually extend the sense of connection to the university by enabling students, and all people of Saskatchewan and elsewhere, to visit with the dogs online to gain comfort and support,
(2) share evidence-informed information about pandemic-specific mental health self-care tips from the perspective of the therapy dogs.
You can visit our therapy dogs in both live and recorded video events!
